The West Windsor-Plainsboro Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization that supports excellence in all ten schools in the West Windsor-Plainsboro school district through the funding of teacher grants, innovative programs, and strategic initiatives. Furthermore, we are proud to partner with Computer Science Remastered (CSR), a global computer science mentorship 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to announce our first virtual hackathon event.
This virtual event will be held April 7-9th. All 8th -12th-grade students from West Windsor-Plainsboro and neighboring townships are eligible to participate in the hackathon, but everyone 6th grade and above will be able to attend the seminars and participate in activities.
The goal of this event is to challenge students' coding abilities, encourage collaboration, inspire strategic thinking, and create innovative technologies to solve real-world issues in a 48-hour time frame - a fun yet challenging task, something perfect for the youth. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in several workshops, meet our sponsors, and have a chance to win monetary prizes through their creativity and innovation.
With the exceptional support from our donors and supporters, the West Windsor-Plainsboro Education Foundation continues to support district teachers and students to meet the intense and growing challenges faced during the COVID-19 crisis. During the pandemic, we gave grants to teachers for digital microscopes that enabled students to see live science projected on their computer screens at home and awarded funds towards equipment purchase for teachers, independent student learning desks, sensory stations for elementary school students, and digital books. A complete list of grants and programs supported are available on our website, https://wwpeducationfoundation.org/. Furthermore, CSR has run similar events relating to coding for over 3 years and has been teaching children, underprivileged and privileged, how to code because it is CSR’s firm belief that coding is the future of society. They have 6 chapters worldwide, from Ohio and California to India and China, and are working to create more, all to educate the youth (more info can be found in the following link: https://csremastered.org/). They currently teach over 350 students with more than 300 dedicated volunteers. With CSR’s and WW-P Education Foundation’s joint efforts in this Hackathon, there is little doubt about the success of the event or the benefits that can be enjoyed by its sponsors. Thank you for your consideration and we look forward to your participation.
